Everyone loves burritos, and not even a global pandemic can change that. Thankfully, Chipotle has hit upon a wise idea that capitalizes on our collective love for burritos to ensure the heroic essential workers on the frontline of the COVID-19 crisis can collect the free food that they absolutely deserve.

Starting today (April 21) and running through Sunday, April 26, Chipotle will donate up to 100,000 burritos to frontline healthcare workers, thanks to a little help from customers ordering through the Chipotle mobile app or at Chipotle.com. All you have to do is enter “4HEROES” as your customer name, and Chipotle will donate the burrito. You’ll still get whatever you order, and it won’t cost you any extra to do a good deed.

The offer only applies to a regularly-priced burrito ordered via those channels. The good news is that Chipotle is offering free delivery for any order of at least $10 for the duration of the giveaway period (and actually through April 30), so save that money for a nice tip.

This “4HEROES” effort isn’t the only thing Chipotle has done to hook healthcare workers up with free food. According to a press release announcing this buy-one-give-one offer, Chipotle doled out 100,000 burritos at more than 2,500 healthcare facilities across the country during World Health Worker Week (April 5-11). Outside of donating food, Chipotle is donating 10 percent of all proceeds from “Thank You” e-gift card purchases between now and May 31 to Direct Relief, an organization aimed at helping frontline workers get the PPE and medical supplies they need.

So while guac remains extra, getting a free burrito to someone who really, truly deserves it is not. If you’re gonna go the delivery route and have a craving that a local spot won’t fix, there are certainly worse options than taking advantage of this BOG(ive)O deal.
