“Store potatoes away from onions to prevent them from sprouting too quickly.”

Caroline shared a number of other tips alongside the potatoes tip. She said: “Keep carrot sticks fresh by submerging them in cold water and storing them in an airtight container in the fridge.”

Caroline went on: “Wrap fresh herbs in a damp paper towel and store them in a plastic bag.

“Wrap the end of a banana bunch in saran wrap to slow the ripening process.

“Store ripe avocados in the low-humidity crisper drawer of your fridge.”

These tips should help keep your produce fresher and, long term, save you money!

“Don’t wait until practically stale to make that decision.

“If you slice it and bag it up, it’s really easy to take a slice or two out of the freezer at a time. A minute in the toaster and you’re good to go.”

To keep potatoes fresh as long as possible, store them with soil on. Only wash them just before you need them.

Ben said: “Soil is mother nature’s protection. So, with the likes of root veg and potatoes, only wash just before you’re about to prepare them.”
