She detailed how potatoes should not be stored next to another kitchen staple. Onion can shorten the shelf life of potatoes.
Caroline told her fans: “Here are some more food storage hacks to make your food last longer
“Store potatoes away from onions to prevent them from sprouting too quickly.”
Caroline shared a number of other tips alongside the potatoes tip. She said: “Keep carrot sticks fresh by submerging them in cold water and storing them in an airtight container in the fridge.”
Caroline went on: “Wrap fresh herbs in a damp paper towel and store them in a plastic bag.
“Wrap the end of a banana bunch in saran wrap to slow the ripening process.
“Store ripe avocados in the low-humidity crisper drawer of your fridge.”

Food storage hacks
Keep bread fresh
Chef Ben Ebbrell of SortedFood told Express.co.uk readers to freeze their bread sooner rather than later to keep bread fresh. He said: “If you don’t think you’ll get through the whole loaf then cut off, wrap up and freeze a proportion of it when it’s still super fresh.
“Don’t wait until practically stale to make that decision.
“If you slice it and bag it up, it’s really easy to take a slice or two out of the freezer at a time. A minute in the toaster and you’re good to go.”
Keep potatoes fresh
To keep potatoes fresh as long as possible, store them with soil on. Only wash them just before you need them.
Ben said: “Soil is mother nature’s protection. So, with the likes of root veg and potatoes, only wash just before you’re about to prepare them.”
Store greens with a paper towel
Grace is a dietetic student, food lover, and “nutrition nerd”. She posts her tops and tricks on her TikTok account @nourishwithgrace.
She said: “I’ve found the key to keeping any greens is to store them with a paper towel. I store them in a sealed container with a paper towel on the bottom and on the top.
