KFC isn’t the first place you think of for vegan, plant-based food, but good news for people in Atlanta: KFC is now testing a launch of “fried chicken” that’s made with Beyond Meat TODAY, August 27. That’s right — you can walk into KFC if you’re in Atlanta and order fried chicken wings and nuggets with delicious dipping sauces, all meat-free.
If you’re not familiar with the Beyond Meat brand, you’re missing out. The Beyond Meat burger has been turning carnivores into plant-based eaters everywhere, as it’s so close in flavor and texture to real meat. It even has a crumbly pink center like a classic beef hamburger has. And they’re being sold at various restaurants and grocery stores, such as select Whole Foods locations.
The Beyond Meat burger is a soy- and gluten-free, 1/4-thick-patty that’s super juicy and high in protein, with a whopping 20 grams. And there’s half the saturated fat of a beef burger. So that’s pretty awesome, too.
Since the plant-based trend is booming, with burgers and sausages everywhere, it makes sense that KFC wanted to hop on the bandwagon and join in with a plant-based fried chicken recipe to attract its vegan and plant-based customers.

“KFC Beyond Fried Chicken is so delicious, our customers will find it difficult to tell that it’s plant-based,” Kevin Hochman, president and chief concept officer, KFC U.S., said in a press release. “I think we’ve all heard ‘it tastes like chicken’ — well our customers are going to be amazed and say, ‘it tastes like Kentucky Fried Chicken!’”
As for price, you can snag the nuggets in six or 12-piece combo meals (and you get a side and medium-sized drink) for $6.49 and $8.49, respectively, or you can get a four-piece à la carte deal for $1.99. The boneless wings are available in six or 12-piece options for $6 and $12 (tax is additional), respectively.
And if you do eat meat, get the original fried chicken and the Beyond Meat fried chicken and compare the two! You probably won’t tell the difference.
