Perdue Foods is currently recalling 31,703 pounds of organic, ready-to-eat chicken products for possible “extraneous material contamination,” the USDA announced Friday. The company is specifically worried about bone material contamination, leading this recall to be considered a “high health risk.”
The products being recalled were produced on March 21, 2019 and include:
- 12-ounce Perdue Simply Smart Organics Breaded Chicken Breast Tenders, Whole Grain Chicken Breast Nuggets, and Whole Grain Chicken Breast Strips with “Use By” dates of May 20, 2019
- Bulk Boxes of Chef Quik Breaded Chicken Tender-Shaped Chicken Breast Patties With Rib Meat labeled with Case Codes 22143 and 77265
Stay up to date on what healthy means now.
This problem was discovered after consumers complained to Perdue Foods and the Food Safety and Inspection Service. So far there have been no confirmed reports of adverse health reactions in relation to consuming any of these products. However, consumers are still urged to not consume these products if they have them and should throw them away or return to the place of purchase. For more questions, consumers can call the Perdue Consumer Line at (866) 866-3703.
