Veteran’s Day falls on November 11 every year and often many ceremonies or events are planned to honor those who served our country through the armed forces. As a small way to show appreciation, many food chains and restaurants are offering free or discounted food today for veterans or active military personnel. Starbucks, for one, is giving out free coffee to those who show proof of military service with a valid ID.
All veterans and active military members can get a free tall hot brewed coffee from Starbucks today. If you’re not familiar with Starbucks sizing (or just don’t have it memorized by heart), a tall size equals 12 ounces. In addition to giving veterans and active duty personnel a free hot coffee on the house, Starbucks is donating proceeds to two charities that support veterans.
Today, 25 cents from every hot brewed coffee sold will benefit Team Red, White & Blue and Headstrong. Both of these organizations aim to help improve the well-being of veterans and active military through mental health resources and connections to their communities.
Along with this charitable component, Starbucks also pledged to hire at least 25,000 veterans and military spouses and accomplished that goal in 2019. Going forward, Starbucks has said they will look to hire 5,000 more veterans or military spouses per year. These are all small ways that Starbucks hopes to support those who have served, so if that applies to you, head over to Starbucks or any of the other chains offering deals for Veteran’s Day.
