One of our favorite ways to usher in the warm weather is with a glass of cold rosé on the patio. Rosés are particularly fun to drink because they don’t take themselves too seriously—after all, they’re often bright pink and served over ice or in wine spritzers. They’re the F-U-N wine you have with friends, or drink by the pool on vacation.
And when the temperatures rise and days get longer, sometimes you just want a less-fussy (and less expensive) glass of vino.
Stay up to date on what healthy means now.
But what you may not know is that one of the best places to get good wine at a steal, is Aldi. Though they're known for rock-bottom prices on products you can't get anywhere else, their wine actually wins awards for the quality. That’s why we combed through the wine section at our local ALDI in an effort to find the best-tasting ones. (Yeah, working at Cooking Light is rough sometimes.) Here are the two we liked the most (and they’re both under $8!)
Less Sweet: La Rue Rosé
This $7.19 wine earned the title of “best rosé under $8” in the International Wine Challenge Great Value Awards. And we think it has a rightful spot on that list—it’s very well balanced, light, and easy to drink. It would pair beautifully with fish or light pasta, and for the low price you can stock up on several bottles for your next summer dinner party.
More Sweet: Moiselle Rosé
If you like a sweeter wine, or your goal is to make a flavorful poolside drink, we like this inexpensive rosé. At just $4.49 it's a steal, and has prominent cherry and watermelon flavors. It works especially well as a spritzer mixed with some club soda or your favorite La Croix!
