James Martin will appear on his weekly Saturday show on ITV at 9:30am today. The chef’s avid fans will know that he went through a weight loss transformation in recent years, losing a whopping five stone in just two months. But how did he do it?

James Martin is currently in good shape as he presents his weekly cooking show and appears on other various programmes during the week.

Often posting images of his dog on social media, it seems James maintains his weight by going for walks in the countryside near his house.

As for his diet, the chef has previously reduced his intake of some ingredients to stay healthy.

But how did the TV star lose weight in the first place?

James’ weight loss journey started when he competed on Strictly Come Dancing in 2005.

At the time, he revealed he lost a stone in just a week.

When he left the show after two months, James had reportedly lost a whopping five stone.

Strictly has a rigorous training programme which enabled the chef to shed a lot of weight.

But, he also started to follow a healthier diet.

He reportedly cut back on fats, including butter.

Speaking to Mail Online, he said: “It’s hard work because I’m a big bloke.

“So I’ve really got to watch what I eat and drink, and make sure I exercise regularly.”

In 2018, James started to lose weight again after putting on a little of the fat he had previously lost.

He started to notice his appearance change when he watched himself on TV.

But he also received cruel comments about his weight online.

He told the Sun: “I looked on social media and every comment was about me being fat.

“So, I lost a stone and a half.”

When speaking to Mail Online, he added: “I just think it’s a lifestyle thing and also looking at yourself on TV.

“Before you used to watch TV on a small one and now they’re massive.”

As well as reportedly cutting down on some ingredients, James also incorporated a lot of fruit and vegetables into his diet.

Recently, in August 2020, fans noticed James’ slimmer frame and were quick to comment on it on his social media.

One Instagram user wrote: “Wow, looking slim Mr Martin.”

Another said: “Looking good.”

A third person commented: “Well done James. You look fabulous!”
