Kate Middleton reportedly indulges in “relatable” hearty favourites such as curry and sticky toffee pudding. But how does she keep such a lean and slender physique? Behavioural expert Darren Stanton has analysed the Royal Family’s preferred food choices, on behalf of UK coffee retailer Coffee Friend.
He revealed to Express.co.uk what their tastes suggest about their different personality traits.
So what does Kate’s diet choices say about her?
Kate reportedly loves porridge, curry (both takeaway and homemade), homemade family recipes, raw foods, matcha smoothies and plant-based lunches with vegetables and pulses.
Prince William on the other hand reportedly likes to grill and barbecue food.
Kate is known for her healthy lifestyle and love of sport, so it is not surprising that the Duchess eats healthily too.
The Cambridge family’s daily diet is reportedly full of a variety of nutritious, flavoursome meals, with Kate doing much of the cooking at home herself.
Darren told Express.co.uk: “Kate’s favourites are much more in line with what a lot of people would eat these days.
“She’s partial to trying new food trends, such as a raw food diet, plant-based meals or matcha in her coffee or green smoothies.
“However, her diet consists of a lot of the nation’s old favourites too, like curry and sticky toffee pudding – it’s hearty food and very relatable.
“Kate’s food tastes could suggest why she is arguably one of the most popular Royal Family members.
“She is in touch with what the masses like, so she can relate to them and them to her,” the expert noted.
In terms of snacking, Kate revealed in 2018: “I used to eat lots and lots of olives when I was little as well.”
Princess Charlotte is already following in her mum’s footsteps, as Kate later shared that her daughter also loves to snack on olives.
In A Berry Royal Christmas, Kate told Mary Berry: “I love making the cake. It’s become a bit of a tradition that I stay up ’til midnight with ridiculous amounts of cake mix and icing and I make far too much. But I love it.”
But what does Prince William like to eat?
Darren continued: “William, meanwhile, likes to barbecue.
“Running a family barbecue means you like to take charge and aren’t afraid to be the one who makes all the decisions.
“These are traits he will no doubt need and rely on when it comes to being King.
“A barbecue is often no-frills, very homely and serves up hearty foods, what you see is what you get.
“This is psychologically quite consistent with Kate, so this could be why she and William are a couple totally matched and in pretty much every way.”
