Nigella Lawson details recipe of sea salted chocolate cookies

Nigella Lawson will appear on our TV screens tonight in a special repeat of the second episode of her BBC series Nigella: At My Table, which was first aired in 2017. Seeing her looking healthy and happy, many viewers will be reminded of her recent weight loss. How did she do it?

Nigella has spoken about her weight on multiple occasions in the past, having lost an impressive two stone in recent years.

The brunette beauty’s secrets to slimming down and maintaining her current weight is to practice yoga and eat smaller food portions.

A fan of Iyengar yoga, Nigella enjoys doing yoga three times a week, according to Good Housekeeping.

She said: “The older I get the more I realise I have got to do lots of stretching. So even if I’m not doing yoga, I make myself do lots of stretching.”

Iyengar yoga is a form of yoga that has an emphasis on detail, precision, and alignment in the performance of posture and breath control.

It is one of the more traditional types of yoga and has huge mental and physical health benefits.

Some of these benefits include improved breathing, toned muscles, and increased flexibility.

However, you don’t need to be able to touch your toes to do Iyengar yoga – it is supposed to be done in a slow and gentle way, and Nigella has said that she often does it lying down.

Another of Nigella’s top tips to losing weight is eating smaller portions at mealtimes, as well as adding plenty of greens to your diet.

Kale and avocado are two superfoods that Nigella stands by, and they are ideal for weight loss as they are low in calorie content but high in nutritional value.

Surprisingly, just like salmon, kale is a good source of omega 3 fatty acids.

It also contains nutrients that can help lower cholesterol and reduce fat absorption, while avocado has also been shown to lower cholesterol levels and may even prevent liver damage.

The amounts of fibre, potassium and fats in an avocado help give you the feeling of satiety (feeling full), while also slowing digestion and maintaining the levels of blood sugar and insulin in your body, which is essential for weight loss.

Although she thinks eating smaller portions and more vegetables is a good idea, Nigella has never been on a diet.

She told BBC Woman’s Hour that she is “disgusted by the clean eating mantra”.

The TV chef is therefore partial to a few treats, even eating her own savoury pies and sweet desserts that she shares with the public.

Nigella posts a Recipe of the Day on her Twitter account daily, and the meals vary considerably.

She described today’s recipe as “khaki mush” – spiced mung beans with mint and coriander yoghurt.

Packed with healthy nutrients and containing high antioxidant levels that may reduce risk of heart disease, mung beans have incredible health benefits, according to Healthline.

These tweets receive hundreds of likes by Nigella’s fans but her latest daily recipe to go viral was a “bitter orange tart”, which she posted on Joe Biden’s Inauguration Day.

It was liked by thousands of her fans, who were quick to notice that the cake’s orange hue was a similar colour to that of Donald Trump’s hair.
