Sheridan Smith is now appearing in the new series No Return. The star, however, looked very different a few years ago before she started her weight loss journey.

Sheridan shared her transformation on social media saying: “I’m not one for weight loss regimes as I think everyone should be comfortable in their own skin.

“I have lost two stone!”

The actress, who is now 40 and has a son, managed to lose a considerable amount of weight in just 14 weeks thanks to her role in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Joseph the Musical.

Sheridan admitted that helped her slim down as she was exercising and following a consistent fitness routine every day.

But what exactly did she do?

Sheridan spent hours a day dancing while rehearsing for the musical.

The intense and regular exercise, combined with a healthy and balanced diet, speeds up the weight loss process.

Dancing has been proven to be one of the most effective workout routines to burn calories.

According to Healthline, “like most forms of aerobic or cardio exercise, dancing has many health benefits, including weight loss”.

“Dancing is an excellent way to exercise, burn fat and calories, and lose weight.”

The site explains: “Besides burning a good number of calories, dancing can also increase your muscle strength.

“Building lean muscle mass may help you burn fat and tone your muscles.”

On average, dancing for 30 minutes every day burns 200 calories.

The more aerobic the dance is, the most effective for weight loss.

Dr Jo Rodda added: “Studies have shown that the occurrence of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease can be reduced by exercises such as dancing.

“Not only is it fun, social and engaging, but it’s also a great way of incorporating exercise into your weekly routine.

“Learning and remembering new steps activates many neural pathways in your brain, keeping it strong, active and healthy,” she told Health Wellbeing.

Sheridan has continued to follow a healthy diet to maintain her weight.

The actress was in a relationship with insurance broker Jamie after they met on dating app Tinder in 2018. They soon got engaged and had a child together: Billy.

However, last year the couple announced their separation: “It is with great sadness that we have decided to have some time apart,” they said.
