Last night, Simon Cowell  hosted his annual summer party for his record label Syco. Guests included – presenter Piers Morgan, singer Louis Redknapp and former Strictly stars Ola and James Jordan. As he arrived at the the Victoria and Albert Museum in Knightsbridge, the 59-year-old put on a rare public display with his girlfriend Lauren Silverman. The duo – who share son Eric – shared a kiss as they posed for photos at the entrance. Standing beside her man, Lauren, 41, looked stunning in a floor length pink gown, which had a high neckline.

But it was Simon who stole the show, as he showed off his recent weight loss in his trademark white shirt and black trousers. And it didn’t go unnoticed with many asking on Twitter: “What has Simon done?”

The dad-of-one recently revealed he’d lost 20lbs, by going vegan.

Speaking in an interview with Extra, Simon explained: “I went to see this guy who’s very well-known. And he said to me, after doing some blood work, ‘You can’t have red meat, dairy, sugar, bread or gluten.’”

Vegans choose not to consume dairy, eggs, or any other products of animal origin, as well as not eating meat like vegetarians.

According to, veganism is currently defined as “a way of living that attempts to exclude all forms of animal exploitation and cruelty, be it for food, clothing or any other purpose.”

The vegan diet has been credited for aiding weight loss, with one woman recently losing 6st on the health plan.

It has also been linked to a reduce risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, cancer and premature death.

As well as transforming his diet, Simon also cut down on alcohol, revealing doctors advised him to have “maybe not quite as much as you had before.”

Dieters often tend to cut out alcohol, as it’s known to contain lots of empty calories, which leads to weight gain, and binge-eating while intoxicated is not uncommon. 

Why did Simon decide to go vegan?

The X Factor judge decided to lose weight in October 2017.

He was hospitalised that year after fainting due to low blood pressure, which causing him to rethink his diet.

At the time, the music mogul cut out four types of food.

He said: “I cut out a lot of the stuff I shouldn’t have been eating and that was primarily meat, dairy, wheat, sugar – those were the four main things.”

“I was allergic to melon, so I didn’t eat it for six months, but I saw this man and he explained it and it made sense,” he added to The Sun.
