Loving spicy food is more than a preference—it’s a way of life. Seriously, it takes a lot of work to satisfy heat-craving taste buds. For some, a bottle of hot sauce and a jar of cayenne pepper is enough. But for others (myself included), that just ain’t gonna cut it. We need heat in every part of our food, not just dumped on top like an afterthought. If you really want to kick your cooking up a notch (or 10), consider adding these five spicy staples to your grocery list.

1. Rotel Hot Diced Tomatoes with Habaneros

Your tomato soup will never be the same. Or your chili. Or your pasta sauce. Basically, throw out your regular diced tomato and grab this. You’re welcome.

2. Pico De Gallo Hot Chile and Salt

Why use regular salt when this exists? It’s intended for use on fruits and vegetables, but you can sprinkle (or pour) this on literally anything you would season with salt.

3. Newman’s Own Sockarooni

I am being 100 percent truthful when I say I haven’t purchased another jarred tomato-based sauce in more than a decade. Sockarooni out performs any marinara, pizza sauce, or basic tomato sauce out there. I love this stuff so much, I wrote a whole article about it.

4. Sriracha Seasoning Stix Classic Sriracha Blend

Whoever invented these seasoning sticks deserves a raise. Insert one or two into anything that could use a spicy kick (meat, fish, poultry, tofu) and it’ll season it from the inside out as it cooks.

5. Zatarain’s Big and Zesty Creole Seasoning

Sometimes you crave a special kind of heat—a Cajun type of heat. That’s where this comes in. This flavorful blend of onion, red pepper, and garlic will take you from your kitchen to the Big Easy in just one bite.
