Earlier this fall, we reached out to some of our biggest fans on social media to invite them to join Food & Wine editors for a super-secret dinner party at one of the most exclusive venues in New York City: the Cupola—a landmark private dining space that only seats 12 guests—situated on the northwest corner of the rooftop at the NoMad Hotel, with views of the Empire State Building.
Our goal: To bring together some of our biggest URL supporters IRL—to talk shop and share some of our favorite food (and wine!) in the city. The night was spectacular—one of our favorite events this fall! Take an insiders’ look at the stunning venue and a sneak peek at what happened at the dinner in the video, above.
Here’s what was on the menu:
A family-style dinner, starting with gleaming towers of Fruits de Mer—Hamachi with horseradish; scallop ceviche with yuzu and pistachio; uni panna cotta with green apple gelee; lobster salad with tarragon and piment d’espilette; Beau-Soleil oyster with mignonette snow; Alaskan King Crab with apple Bavarois; and carrot tartare with sunflower seeds and mustard.
Up next, a radicchio salad with apples and sunchokes roasted with puntarella, hazelnuts and grapes.
Next up, individually-plated white truffle risotto with butter and Parmesan.
Followed by NoMad roast chicken with sweet potato and apple, accompanied by Brussels sprouts variations with bacon, Parmesan, and dates.
For dessert: the restaurant’s iconic Brooklyn blackout cake served with assorted Mignardises—macarons, carrot cakes, tartlets—family-style.
