Ingredients

  1. Shrimp:
  2. 2 1/2 cups water
  3. 2 tbsp white wine vinegar
  4. 2 (1 inch) wide) strips lemon peel
  5. 1 tsp salt
  6. 1 lb shelled, deveined uncooked medium shrimp
  7. Sauce:
  8. 1 (14.5 oz) can diced tomatoes, well drained
  9. 1 small garlic clove, minced
  10. 1 tbsp lemon juice
  11. 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  12. 3/4 tsp paprika
  13. 1/4 tsp black pepper
  14. 1/4 tsp hot pepper sauce
  15. 1/8 tsp celery seeds
  16. 1/8 tsp salt
  17. 1 tbsp vodka, if desired

Steps

  1. In medium saucepan, combine water, vinegar, lemon peel and salt; bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat. Add shrimp; cook 3 to 6 minutes or until shrimp turn pink. Strain; spread shrimo on plate to cool. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.

  2. Place all sauce ingredients except vodka in food processor or blender; process until sauce is almost smooth. Stir in vodka. Refrigerate at least 30 minutes. Serve shrimp with sauce.
