In minang we called it asam padeh. The fish can substitute with chicken or beef or everything meat u want. The tofu is just additional and also can substitute with others. I hope u enjoy it
Ingredients
- 250 gr fish (I use Indian mackerel)
- 2 pcs tofu
- 50 gr chilli
- 40 gr shallot
- 35 gr garlic
- 3 candlenut
- 1 lemongrass
- 4 kaffir lime leaves
- 2 cm galangal
- 2 cm turmeric
- 1 turmeric leaf
- 3 pcs asam kandis or tamarind seed
- Lime juice from 1/2 lime
- 800 ml water
Steps
Wash and marinate fish with lime juice for 10 min
Blend candlenut, galangal, turmeric, chilli, garlic, shallot
Stir fry the blend spices, put lemongrass, kaffir lime and turmeric leaf
Add water and boil for 5 min then put tofu, fish and asam kandis.
Boil all ingredients until the water decrease.
