Ingredients

  1. 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  2. 1 onion sliced
  3. 6 gloves garlic chopped
  4. 1 inch ginger minced
  5. 1 red pepper sliced
  6. 1 pound lean ground beef
  7. 1 cup Thai basil leaves chopped
  8. 3 scallions chopped
  9. Ingredients for sauce
  10. 2 teaspoons brown sugar
  11. 2 tablespoons fish sauce
  12. 6 tablespoons soy sauce
  13. 3 tablespoons oyster sauce
  14. 1/2 cup water
  15. 1 tablespoon chili paste (optional)
  16. 1 teaspoon corn starch

Steps

  1. Mix ingredients for sauce and set aside

  2. Add oil to wok or large pan over medium high heat

  3. When oil is hot, add garlic, ginger, red pepper, and onion. Stir fry for 4 min

  4. Turn stove to high heat and add ground beef. Break beef into small pieces

  5. When beef is no longer pink, stir in sauce and cook for 2 minutes

  6. Add the basil and stir fry until the basil wilts.

  7. Top with scallions and enjoy over short grain white rice!
