The restaurant chain is known for its succulent chicken dishes, which are both tasty and affordable. However, the company has increased the price of one of its popular menu items.

Nando’s has risen the price of all its bottomless soft drinks by 10p.

Customers could choose from unlimited Coke Zero, Diet Coke, Fanta Zero, and Sprite Zero for only £3.40. But now the bottomless drink options are available for £3.50.

As for bottomless Coca-Cola, the soft drink now costs £3.70, up from £3.60.

The fizzy drinks are now more expensive at all UK Nando’s branches. However, other soft drinks, including cans, orange juice, and cordial have all stayed the same price.

A Nando’s spokesperson said: “We continue to work hard to absorb costs wherever we can and are committed to delivering the best value possible for customers.

“Our bottomless soft drinks have increased by 10p, however, our canned drinks remain the same price.”

Nando’s has gradually become more expensive in recent years.

In the 12 months leading up to January 2022, the company increased its prices by up to 13.7 percent.

It hiked the price of its quarter chicken meal by £1.70, while the cost of a quarter chicken on its own is now £4.95, up from £4.25.

The chain said the increased costs of ingredients and the running of the Nando’s restaurants in general were to blame for the soaring prices.

Restaurants across the country have been struggling to stay afloat due to the increased cost of energy bills.

Some have even been forced to close. Wetherspoon, for example, announced in 2022 that it will close around 40 of its watering holes.

The pub’s chairman, Tim Martin, said at the time: “The aftermath of the pandemic and lockdown restrictions have been far more difficult than anyone thought.

“That is the picture for the whole pub and restaurant industry. People thought that, after lockdown, there would be a boom in people suffering from cabin fever but, instead, it has almost been the opposite situation, as people have got in the habit of staying in.

“That’s the big thing that means sales are down on 2019. Things are improving now but it’s slow.”

Some pubs have already closed and many are still on the market. If they are sold, they will shut their doors too.

The pubs that are up for sale across the country include the Silkstone Inn in Barnsley, the Thomas Leaper in Derby, the Water House in Durham, and the Christopher Creeke in Bournemouth.

Also on the market are the Moon and Bell in Loughborough, the Rising Sun in Redditch, the Butler’s Bell in Stafford, and the John Masefield in the Wirral.
